We just cleared another major hurdle in the almost-completed journey toward passing comprehensive health insurance reform. The U.S. Senate just passed the reconciliation package - 56 to 43 - after rejecting 24 hours worth of occasionally absurd Republican amendments to the bill.

Sens. Joe Lieberman (I-CT), Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) and Ben Nelson (D-NE) have each been targeted by the opposition to join a Republican filibuster. If that happens, health insurance reform will not move forward--but you can have an impact if you adopt a health care "swing state" as your own.

That's what hundreds of people in Lincoln did Wednesday night in Lincoln, as they rallied in support of quality, affordable health care for all Americans. The scene at the event, held by Change that Works Nebraska, AARP, Organizing for America and other organizations, was charged with hope.

To help debunk the misinformation being spread about what health care reform actually means for Americans, a new coalition called Americans for Stable Quality Care--which includes the SEIU, American Medical Association (AMA), PhRMA, the Federation of American Hospitals and FamiliesUSA--will launch their first ad today as part of an August recess campaign for health care reform.
