Weingarten Rights

If you are called into a meeting you feel could lead to Disciplinary action, you have the right to have Union Representation at the meeting.  When called into the office and you aren’t sure – Ask if the meeting is disciplinary.  If it is here is a paragraph you should read to the Administrator:

If the discussion in this meeting could in any way lead to my being disciplined or terminated, or impact on my personal working conditions, I request that a Steward, Local Officer or Union Representative be present.  Without Union representation, I choose not to answer any further questions at this time.

This is my right under a Supreme Court decision called Weingarten.

Always remain respectful but don’t go into any meeting with administration that is disciplinary in nature with out the protection of Union Representation!
